Serrano’s Plumbing Services didn’t start in an office, a shop, or even a fully equipped work truck. It started with a decision.
One night, I was laying in bed thinking about my future, my family, and what I was capable of building. I prayed and asked God, “If this is something you truly want me to do, then I’ll do it.” When I woke up the next morning, it wasn’t a thought anymore. It wasn’t a question. It was already decided. I was starting my own plumbing company.
I began building my website with my cousin on GoDaddy, not fully realizing how much that one decision would change everything. When the company I was working for found out, I ended up losing my job. Instead of slowing me down, that moment pushed me even harder. There was no going back. I had to make this work.
Before starting Serrano’s Plumbing Services, I had already spent years working in the plumbing industry, serving customers across Southeast Louisiana.
Working with companies like Roto-Rooter gave me the opportunity to serve customers throughout New Orleans. I learned how to handle a wide range of service calls and developed a strong understanding of what homeowners need when they’re searching for a plumber in New Orleans, LA.
Later, working with Keefe’s allowed me to expand even further, serving both my home areas on the North Shore and customers across the South Shore and New Orleans. That experience helped me understand how to operate across multiple service areas while maintaining quality and consistency on every job.
During that time, I was producing a high volume of work and helping generate significant revenue. But over time, I realized I wanted to build something of my own — something where I could control the quality, the customer experience, and the direction of the company.
That realization is what ultimately pushed me to start Serrano’s Plumbing Services.
I didn’t just want to do plumbing work — I wanted to build a company that serves North Shore and South Shore plumbing service areas the right way, with a focus on doing the job right the first time.
I started diving deep into how to build a real, SEO-optimized website so customers could actually find me for plumbing services in Southeast Louisiana. At the same time, I was trying to survive. Those first few customers were a blessing. They gave me just enough to keep going while the website and online presence slowly started to build.
At that time, I didn’t even have a work van. I was running service calls out of a Mustang. On bigger jobs, I had to rent a U-Haul just to get the work done. For nearly three months, that Mustang was my work truck.
I thought selling my house would give me the money to properly start the business, but that didn’t work out the way I expected. I realized I wasn’t going to get what I needed from it, so I had to figure it out another way. I pushed forward, reinvested everything I could, and eventually got my first van.
As the business started growing, I kept building the website, adding more pages, more service areas, and more structure. Then I hit a limit. GoDaddy capped the number of pages I could create, and it started holding back my growth. I stayed on it for a little while longer, but I knew if I wanted to keep expanding, I had to move to something stronger.
Once I made the move and got past that limitation, everything changed. Now, Serrano’s Plumbing Services is positioned to grow the way it was always meant to.
In just a few months, the company has already done over $50,000 in work. Most of that money has gone right back into the business — tools, equipment, and building a stronger foundation.
My plan is to grow Serrano’s Plumbing Services into a company that serves families across Southeast Louisiana, including homeowners searching for a plumber in Metairie, LA and reliable plumbing services in New Orleans.
We specialize in everything from water heater repair and installation in Southeast Louisiana to full-service residential plumbing, helping homeowners get real solutions when they need them most.
As the company grows, my brothers will be stepping in to help build this into a true family-operated business.
Over time, the vision is even bigger — expanding into electrical, HVAC, and creating a company that provides complete home services under one name.
At the end of the day, this isn’t for me.
This is for my kids.
Everything I’m building is so they never have to worry about the things I had to figure out on my own.
